Our Routes


The name itself tells all really, popularized the world over the Africa's highest mountain, Kilimanjaro stands proudly over the savannah just on the North of Tanzania.

To reach "Uhuru Peak" the summit, no technical knowledge is necessary, the highest point being accessible from all routes but due to high altitude, it's a trek to take seriously and not all hikers achieve their goal, acclimatization is therefore very important and both our itineraries accommodate this important aspect of ascent at high altitude.






RONGAI ROUTE

This game is fast gaining popularity and is considered to be one of the easiest route up the mountain. It is the only route starting from the north side of the mountain at Rongai village. The climbing conditions are drier on the mountain and there are spectacular sweeping views over the broad flat Maasai lands. Overnight are spent camping in tents. The summit is reached via the east side of Kibo and descent is via the Marangu route. 6 DAYS 5 NIGHTS TREKKING

Day 1:The climb begins at the village (1950 Masl) through cultivated land before entering the pine forest. Taking 3 - 4 hours the first camp is on the edge of the moorland zone where the forest begins to thin out and overnight at cave camp

Day 2: The morning walk is steady ascent up to 2nd cave at 3450 Masl with superb view of Kibo and the eastern ice fields on the crater rim. Pushing up0 to reach the overnight stay camp at 3rd cave 3800 Masl will take 3-4 hours walk.

Day 3.Continue ascending on the East side of Kibo crossing the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo taking 4-5 hours to reach Kibo hut for overnight 4700 Masl.

Day 4: Acclimatization at Kibo hut at 4700Masl. The remainder of the day spent in preparation for the final ascent, which begins around midnight. Overnight at Kibo hut 4700 Masl.

Day 5. An early for the summit on steep heavy scree to arrival at Gilman's point at 5681 Masl in time to see the sun rise. To reach the African highest point from Gilman's point you need 3 hours to Uhuru peak "5895 Masl". Then discend to Kibo hut for short rest and some refreshment, then continue to descend to Horombo hut for last camping at 3780 Masl.

Day 6: As steady discent through moorland zone to Mandara and wish prest on a good path to Marangu gate at 1820 Masl then transfer to Moshi or Arusha.

MACHAME ROUTE

It is the second popular route among 6 official route that found in Kilimanjaro. One of the most scenic route up on Kili and having more time to acclimatize as you will be ascending and discending crossing several valleys to enable you reach your goals. The discend from Machame route is on Mweka route.

6 DAYS 5 NIGHTS TREKKING Day 1. Drive from Moshi town at your Hotel to Machame gate 1920 Masl for registration then take 6 hours walk in the lush rain forest to Machame camp at 3000 Masl for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Leaving the camp to Shira plateau along its scenic rocky on health and Moorland zone with picnic lunch to shira camp 3800Mas for picnic and overnight stay. It is 5 hours walk.

Day 3: After breakfast, being an acclimatization day, ascend to Lara Tower rock 4600Masl in a semi Arid area for lunch then descend to Baranco camp 3950 Masl for dinner and overnight stay. It is 7 hours walk.

Day 4: It is the mountain on its best trekking across the Baranco and Karanga valley to Barafu camp 3880Msl in 6-7 hours walk. Dinner and overnight stay at Barafu camp.

Day 5. In the midnight after tea leave for final ascent to the African highest point "Uhuru Peak 5895 Masl" in 6 hours then descend to Barafu camp in 3 hours for 2 hours rest. After lunch, descend to Mweka camp (3hours walk) 3100 Masl for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6. Just after breakfast, discend to Mweka gate 1800 Masl in the rainforest in 3 hours for transfer to your Hotel in Moshi town or Arusha. For those having reach the summit will obtain their certificate.

NB: Machame route can be done in 7 - 8 days trekking for more acclimatization. It is your choice depending on your fitness to choose ascending through western beach "Arrow Glacier " or Barafu Camp.

MARANGU ROUTE

Being called the "Cocacola" route since is the easiest route; it is the first discovered route up on Kilimanjaro and the overnight stay are on huts. Looks easy to climb from Marangu gate to Kibo hut but takes you more challenge you reach the Gilman's Points. The ascent and discent is on the same route.

Day 1. Drive from Moshi to Marangu park gate for registration. Take it easy ascend in a hush forest with picnic lunch to Mandara hut 2720Masl for the overnight stay. Dat 2. After breakfast, hike through the remaining forest to Horombo hut in a heath and Moorland zone. Reach Horombo hut in 5-6 hours trek for dinner and overnight stay (3780 Masl)

Day 3. Acclimatization day. Take a short walk to Mawenzi hut (3hours and back to Horombo hut 3780 Masl for lunch, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4. An early trek for Kibo hut, trek through the saddle between Kibo and Mawenzi peaks on the lunar landscape. Dinner and overnight stay at Kibo hut 4700Masl (5-6 Hours walk)

Day 5. An early for the summit in the midnight on steep heavy scree to arrival at Gilman's point at 5681 Masl in time to see the sunrise. To reach the African highest point " Uhuru Peak 5895 Masl" from Gilman's point you need 3 hours walk then discend to Kibo hut for short rest and some refreshment. Continue to discend to Horombo hut 3780 Masl for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6. A steady discent through Moorland zone to Mandara hut and hush forest on a good path to Marangu gate at 1820 Masl for certificate award and transfer to Moshi or Arusha.

LONDOROSI ROUTE

This route makes the western Beach of Kibo very accessible. The rail passes through open heath, moorland and rock, crossing several stream along Shira plateau, which posses great beauty and enchantment lacking other areas of Kilimanjaro. It is recommended to spend an extra day at Shira Hut (3840Masl) for acclimatization.

Day 1: Drive from Moshi or Arusha to Londorosi Park gate for payment and registration then walk to forest campsite in a wilderness route with vegetation. Dinner and overnight stay at Big tree camp 2440 Masl.

Day 2: This is a retatively easy day with a height gain of around 610M taking to beautiful wildness camp just outside the Shira crater at 3050 Masl, at Shira 1 campsite.

Day 3: In the Morning after breakfast, crossing into the Shira Caldera (3rd Kilimanjaro Volcanic Cones) to Shira II and 3 hours walk. Overnight stay at Shira II camp 3500Masl. Day 4. Walk across Shira Plateau via Simba camp to Fishers camp in 3 hours. Optional early morning start for those wanting to try acclimatizing trek to Shira Cathedral. Overnight stay at Fishers camp 3800Masl.

Day 5. Take the southern flank passing down the Baranco via the Lava Tower (4600 Masl) it takes 6-7 hours. Overnight stay at Baranco camp (3950 Masl)

Day 6. After breakfast, climb up Baranco wall (4270 Masl) to admire the views of Mt. Meru and the plams for below. Then continue across the ridges and valleys to Karanga valley (4300 Masl) for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7. Make an early morning start to New Barafu ridge high camp (4700 Masl) before Barafu nightfall. Make sure to get enough afternoon sleep rest. Overnight stay at barafu High camp.

Day 8. Rise around midnight to commence the trek up scree slopes to Stella point on the rim. Then continue to the African's highest point "Uhuru Peak" 5895 Masl. After the summit ascent, discend to New Mweka route camp in 4 -5 hours discend via the Barafu camp ridge for dinner and overnight at Mweka High camp (3850 Masl)

Day 9. After breakfast, walk down across the Alpine moorland, health and the rainforest to Mweka gate for certificate award and transfer to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha.
